Direct AV 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-01-2024

We left yesterday afternoon on our annual Direct AV 7 Day with an amazing group with a lot of familiar faces. The guys loaded the boat with bait and got underway heading some. This morning, Captain Billy did his tackle seminar, and afterward, Larry, Don, Joe, and the gang did an amazing giveaway/raffle for rods, reels, bags, and much more.

Direct AV 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-02-2024

The Direct AV gang arrived on scene this afternoon with bitting fish waiting for a Sardine to hit the water. The size of the yellowfin tuna continues to blow our minds this year. We will try again tomorrow

Direct AV 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-03-2024

Everyone tagged what they wanted this morning on yellowfin tuna. Shane caught his first tuna and decided to take a bite of the heart. I don't recommend doing so, but it's a tradition for many after catching there first. Once we finished up, we made a move further south looking for yellowtail. Managed 25 or so nice yellowtail for our efforts with plenty of bottom critters to go along with it.

Direct AV 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-05-2024

Yesterday was mostly a travel day with one stop before the sun went down for a handful of yellowtail. Today,we fished the beach for some awesome inshore fishing. The yellowtail were on the chew all day with a few other species like halibut, bass, cuda, and a porgy to top it off.

Bubba / UC Rods 7 Day

Pure enjoyment

Words can't describe the amount of fun we had on big yellowfin down below today. The long-range fleet keeps repeating themselves trip after trip about the quality of these fish, and you can't beat it. It's as good as it gets on quantity and quality.

Bubba / UC Rods 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-10-2024

It's was a little slower today since we were targeting yellowtail. The guys tagged what they wanted on yellowfin tuna yesterday. We did manage to scratch at a few nice yellowtail, pargo, 4 wahoo, and wide open dorado. We are going to try again tomorrow for yellowtail with high hopes.

Bubba / UC Rods 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-13-2024

We've been traveling up the line for the last few days. The guys have been breaking down their gear and relaxing with sushi platter, movies, and poker. We will be in tomorrow morning at 0500. Thank you Bubba, UC Rods, and everyone for another good trip.

Kimura 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-15-2024

We returned home yesterday on our Annual Bubba/UC Rods 7 Day trip with an incredible load of fish yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, Dorado, and wahoo.

As we did a fast turn around yesterday, offloading the fish, people, loading groceries, and fueling. We departed on our Kimura 7 Day with another great group. As we head down south this morning, Captain Brian did his tackle seminar after breakfast, and everyone got down to business rigging up their gear for tomorrow's fishing. We are enjoying nice weather, great food, and football for the meantime.

Kimura 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-16-2024

The fishing continues to impress us every trip down south. As we got our anchor down around 0900, the Kimura group got down to business right away at this amazing grade yellowfin tuna. Most of everyone tagged what they wanted and decided to look for yellowtail and was rewarded with some good grade yellows. We are making a move for tomorrow to try and catch some wahoo a day whatever else comes our way.

Kimura 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-17-2024

We tried for wahoo this morning, and after not getting any strikes or seeing anything on the machines for 2 hours, we decided to bail and make a 25-mile move back up north. As we arrived, we saw good sign of yellows on the machines and got our anchor down. We picked all after noon on 18-30lb yellowtail, and of course, there was no shortage of tuna around. Another fantastic day of fishing for our Kimura group.

Kimura 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-19-2024

We traveled all day yesterday to get up along the coast for some beach fishing today. Water was a little cooler than expected, but we made the best of it. We caught some yellowtail throughout the day with lots of sand bass and barracuda. Our trip is coming to an end with tomorrow being our last day before we get in on Saturday.

Kimura 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-20-2024

We finished off the trip with a few rockfish drifts this morning. Some nice lingcod and reds came over the rail before calling it a trip. We will be in tomorrow morning at 0600 and back out for another 7 day. Thank you, Gary Kimura, his son Matt Kimura, and everyone who joined us this year.

Youngs Tackle 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-22-2024

Left yesterday afternoon on our Young's Tackle 7 Day trip heading down south for that beautiful grade yellowfin to start. As we left the harbor, Mac did his raffle/giveaway and had some awesome custom rods, cal star blanks, Penn reels, Shimano reels, tackle boxes, Phenix kill bags, shirts, hats, and goody bags for everyone with a ton of stuff. We will be targeting yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, dorado, and wahoo. So today, we will be busy getting everyone properly rigged up for all species coming our way. In the meantime, everyone has been enjoying themselves with great company, Indy Beers, and football.

Youngs Tackle 7 Day

by Brian Pifer, 9-24-2024

Yellowtail fishing was a bit slow today for us, but we managed to catch a few decent ones. We're heading up the coast to avoid the bad weather coming our way the next couple of days.

Youngs Tackle 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-26-2024

After scoring some epic catches down south, the wind and swell have been pummeling us for the past few days. But we're not giving up! We've decided to head north early to avoid the incoming storms below. Everyone's fingers are crossed for calmer seas tomorrow as we make our final push for bluefin tuna to end the trip.

Youngs Tackle 7 Day

by Indy Crew, 9-27-2024

We ended our trip on a high note with a beautiful day on the water with nice weather. Despite the tough bluefin fishing, we managed to land a few throughout the day. Bluefin being bluefin, they would lay under the boat and boil around us, keeping our hopes high. Say the least, everyone had a great time. We'll be back tomorrow at 5 AM.

Shout out to Young's Tackle, Kevin Kwon, Mac Daddy and the gang that came along with us this year. Thank you all
