Turner's/Avet Reels/Graftech Rods

by Indy Crew, 6-01-2024

We left yesterday morning on our 17th annual Graftech Rods/Avet Reels/Turner's Outdoorsman 8 Day Trip heading down south for yellowtail and yellowfin tuna.

Captain Brian did a tackle seminar this morning after Rick, Mike, and Kyle did their raffle and giveaways. As we travel down, the crew has been busy getting everyone set up for the trip rigging flyline, yoyo, and dropper loops. Later on Rick and the guys have another raffle/ giveaways for more rods and reels tonight during dinner to top everyone off with new gear. We still have a ways to go but we should be fishing around noon tomorrow.

The yellowtail and yellowfin tuna were on the chew. We had an awesome day of fishing, with 2-6 fish going at all times. After dinner, we are going to make bait and see if we can catch some trophies tomorrow.

The big ones wanted to bite.

We had hood fishing once again on yellowtail. We had a couple handfuls of yellowtail ranging from 40-60 pounds with a 70-pounder being the biggest. The tuna didn't show today, but we have high hopes for tomorrow. We are going to stay the morning hunting for more yellowfin and trophy yellowtail before taking off.

Monster's on the chew

Big amberjack and yellowtail to top us off this morning. Everyone tagged what the wanted on yellowtail and managed a few more nice yellowfin before taking off. We are traveling up the line to put us in a position for bluefin to finish the trip off. We will be traveling up the coast for the next 2 days, switching our gear for bluefin.

We've been traveling the last few days from down below. Yesterday, Captain Brian did a bluefin seminar after breakfast going over flyline, sinker rigs, and night time jig fishing. As the day went on the crew was busy setting everyone up again. While guys were playing poker and having fun. Come around 7pm we were staring during when all of a sudden a spot of 30-50 pound yellowfin tuna popped up right next to the boat. We managed 2 nice yellowfin before the sun went down. Still traveling up trying to get in position for bluefin tonight.

After a long night of stopping and going, we managed to catch a few nice bluefin all over 100lbs. The fish didn't bite as good as we all anticipated, but we still have all day today before we have to go in

We've seen good fish the last few days bluefin fishing, but getting them to bite has been a different issue. We are giving it a little bit tonight before calling it a trip. 0500 eta

Want to thank Rick Ozaki, Mike Nguyen, Kyle Tibbets, Turner's, Avet Reels, and Graftech Rods for a great trip.

We departed yesterday afternoon on our LA James 8 Day Trip with an awesome group of people. LA James had an amazing raffle/giveaways for everyone. Lots of reels, rods, tackle bags, and much more good stuff. Today, Captain Brian did a tackle seminar after breakfast going over how to flyline, use sliding sinkers, yoyo, dropper loop, sureface iron, and kite fishing. After that the crew got busy helping everyone get rigged up. We aren't making the best speed down, but we will be fishing sometime after lunch tomorrow.

LA James 8 Day

by Brian Pifer, 6-10-2024

We had a fun day to start our trip. Everyone was able to put a line in the water after traveling for the last few days. It was wide open by any means, but we were able to pick away at this yellowtail and yellowfin tuna for a few hours before the sun went down. We are going to make bait and try again tomorrow

by Brian Pifer, 6-14-2024

Captain Brian and Captain Roy are ready to find the bluefin tuna.

We will be turning the machines on right after dinner, looking and working our way up to the fleet from down below. We are looking forward to nicer weather and bitting fish.

Orange County Tuna Club 4 Day

by Brian Pifer, 6-17-2024

Yesterday afternoon we departed on our Orange County Tuna Club 4 Day with a great load of people. We loaded our boat with beautiful sardines and took off for the bluefin grounds. Captain Roy did a safety speech and a tackle seminar once we left the bait receiver. After all that Doug Inouye did a raffle and some good giveaways to everyone. We never found a school to stick with us last night but managed a few. Still got plenty of time

4 Day Open Bluefin Offshore

by Brian Pifer, 6-21-2024

Captain Roy and the crew left yesterday afternoon on a 4 Day Bluefin Offshore Trip. They had a little action after dark and some nice bluefin, but once again, it was tough to get bites. Sounds like plenty of bluefin around. It's just all about finding the right school that wants to bite. But today, they've had some lucky kelps producing some beautiful yellowtail.

by Brian Pifer, 6-24-2024

Captain Roy and the guys finished up their trip with a couple big bluefin before heading home last night. They got in at 0600 this morning, offloaded people, fish, and turned right back around for our annual Keith Mcreynolds 3 Day. We topped off the tanks with beautiful sardines while Roy gave his safety speech and seminar. We are traveling to the tuna grounds getting everyone ready for tonight.

3 day western metals

by Brian Pifer, 6-28-2024

Not the best photo.

We left yesterday afternoon on our 3 Day Western Metals trip with an awesome group of people. We decided to try local with the good fishing from the night before but the bluefin didnt show as good. We tried a few schools and managed to get some bites. Liv and Sydney are stoked they caught a couple mid grade bluefin last night. After not seeing anything for hours on hours we opted out to make a move for the big fish zone. We arrived this morning around 0900. We've seen a couple schools so far but don't seem very eager to bite.

Couple trophies for our long move last night. Very good sign of fish around. Hope tonight they let their guard down.

Western Metal 3 Day

by Brian Pifer, 6-30-2024

We got in this morning from our Western Metal 3 Day. We had tough fishing for the most part but couldn't ask for better company. Everyone was at least enjoying themselves drinking, playing poker, or watching someone catch a fish. Thank you Rubios and everyone for joing us. We will see you in August.

Procoat 3 Day

by Brian Pifer, 6-30-2024

We are departing on our annual Procoat 3 Day. Captain Brian did a safety speech and a tackle seminar at the boat receiver as the other crew members loaded up on nice sardines for the trip. Mike Mayhue has some rods and great giveaways as we leave the harbor. The crew will be spending a few hours making sure everyone is rigged up properly for this nighttime and daytime fishing. After all the preparation, the crew and anglers will be taking naps so they are well rested for the night action. Wish us luck
