Melton Tackle 11 Day

We kicked off our Melton Tackle 11-day trip with Elliot Cortez yesterday. Elliot surprised us with some awesome giveaway bags filled with hooks, jigs, shirts, storage boxes, and custom rods. We're currently cruising south in calm weather, gearing up for some exciting fishing coming our way. Our target species for the next few days include yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, and wahoo.

We decided to head down to the lower banks, hoping to target some trophy yellowfin tuna that had been around. We've been trolling along the way, but the only bites so far have been a few small tuna on the marauders. We'll be arriving at the banks around dawn. Also wanted to wish our head chef Ed a Happy Birthday.

Today didn't go as planned at the lower banks. Despite everyone's hard work, we didn't connect with any big tuna. However, we had a fun day with some marlin action and curious turtles. We're moving up to a new area tomorrow, hoping for better luck.

We've been working our way up the line, trying a few spots along the way, but haven't seen much action or life around. We did manage to land a few nice yellowtail and some small tuna but it's not what we are looking for. Tonight, we'll be getting into position for more yellowtail fishing tomorrow before trying our luck with big bluefin and yellowfin rest of the trip.

We had a great morning of yellowtail fishing, with plenty of action on yoyo jigs until 11 AM. Now, we're heading to the bluefin grounds, hoping for some late-night excitement.

Hard work pays off

 

We found the big bluefin, and they were bitting. Everyone was able to pull and land at least one of these beasts today. We are going to try and jig them up tonight.

Today, the bluefin weren't as cooperative as yesterday. We found a few schools, but they weren't biting well. However, there were plenty of yellowfin around for those who wanted them. Phil had the lucky catch of the day, hooking into a giant bluefin before dark.

We had an awesome last day of fishing on our Melton Tackle 11-day trip. We enjoyed steady action all day, catching a mix of bluefin and yellowfin tuna. To top it off, Chef Ed and Rolo prepared another incredible sushi spread

We'll be arriving tomorrow morning from our Melton Tackle 11-day trip. We went the distance, trying our luck on the lower banks, targeting big fish, but weren't able to connect. However, we had a fantastic trip overall, catching a variety of fish, including nice yellowfin, bluefin, and yellowtail. Xmas 5 Day

The guys left yesterday morning on the annual Christmas 5 Day with the fleet. Today, they experienced bad weather and tough fishing for the Xmas group. Better weather and high hopes for tomorrow in a different zone.

What a difference a day makes! Our group experienced phenomenal yellowfin tuna fishing for most of the day to go along with beautiful weather. Gonna try to top of with a few more in the morning before working up the coast.

We couldn’t have drawn up a better finish to our Xmas 5 day this morning. All you wanted on 25-40lb yellowfin. Plus a shot at the better grade bluefin! Heading for the barn. Thanks again to all our loyal passengers for making the trip. Have a Happy New Year!
