Trip #21-33 11-26-2021 BRANDON MILLER'S THANKSGIVING CLASSIC
Really some great fishing down here the past couple days. We had some shots at the jumbos and ended up with 5 fish over 200 and one over 300 yesterday. Today has been a little slower for big ones but we are hoping for some action this evening. The weather is great and the guys are getting their chance at a trophy. We will check back soon. Wish us luck. Matt and Independence crew.

trip 21-33 working way up the beach
The last 2 days have been a little slower in the ways of jumbo yellowfin but we had some good action on school size fish. We checked a different area today with good looking conditions but never saw any signal of tuna. We found a kelp late and managed a catch of nice dorado for the day. We are working up the beach looking for yellowtail for the next couple days. The guys are feeling fortunate to have had a chance at a trophy and the hopes are high for some yellowtail in the future.

GETTING STARTED
We arrived on the grounds yesterday with a new group of hungry anglers. We started out our 11 day trip for Wahoo. We had but a sample in rainy calm weather and took off in hopes of hot tuna action. The guys have spent some time getting rigged up and are more than ready. We will keep you posted. Wish us luck Matt and Independence crew
GOOD DAY
We had a great day of fishing today for premium school grade Yellowfin. We kept a steady pace reaching our daily limit. The wind backed off mid morning and the guys were in their element fighting tuna mostly 25-35 pounds. We took off in hopes of making bait tonight and getting set up for a shot at a trophy. Spirits are high and we anticipate some bites tomorrow. Matt and Independence Crew

WORKING UP THE LINE
After a couple of days trophy hunting we started our way up the line in not so pretty weather. Slow and easy we are working up the coast and looking for Yellowtail to end our trip on. We had quite a few chances at a jumbo tuna the past 3 days. The guys had plenty of action on the school grade tuna while waiting for the big bite. The excitement really sets in watching the giants blow out of the water and chase a kite bait. We sure would’ve liked to get a few more on deck but our last day was spent seeing a lot more fish that wouldn’t bite. Nevertheless we are headed up with high hopes to end the trip with some Yellowtail action. The weather looks to give us a brief window tomorrow before the wind picks back up. Wish us luck. Matt and Independence Crew.
ETA
The Independence will arrive back to Pt. Loma Sportfishing at 0530 Saturday Dec. 18.

Trip #21-35 12-26-2021 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL REPORT
Hey guys we have been pounding it out with a bit of weather and some big bluefin. We started out seeing good sign of 150-180 pound fish that were a bit reluctant to bite. We managed to hook a few handfuls of fish but these tough fish had other plans. We spent our next day on the beach to get out of the wind and we scraped up a catch of yellowtail , rockfish and bass for our effort. The weather was beautiful today and we had high hopes of getting back on the meat. The fish didnât show up till late and didnât hang around long. We were able to hook a few more bruisers today but suffered with a few more losses. Nevertheless they put on a good showing. We are headed up the beach for tomorrow and will look for yellowtail and make a few cod drifts before heading in. Matt and Independence crew.
