Indy Shootout 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-01-2024

Another great day down south. Everyone tagged what they wanted on these 40-75 pound yellowfin tuna the last few days. We are going to switch gears tomorrow and focus on yellowtail before making a move out west to try for wahoo.

Indy Shootout 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-03-2024

Adrenaline pumping! We're right in the middle of a non-stop wahoo frenzy. From the moment we dropped our lines in the water, the action has been relentless. We're going to rest up tonight and try again tomorrow!

Indy Shootout 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-05-2024

After an epic two-day wahoo binge, we decided to head towards the beach yesterday afternoon. The Indy Shootout crew arrived along the coast this morning and found some nice yellowtail to start things off. We ended up scratching throughout the day and landed a big butt to go along with our catch for the day. Tomorrow, we'll continue our coastal adventure, hitting every hot spot we can know.

Tackle Express/ Phenix Rods/ Brett Edmondson 10 Day

by Brian Pifer, 10-09-2024

We kicked off our 7th Annual Tackle Express/ Phenix Rods 10-day trip with Brett Edmondson yesterday. Brett has been generous with giveaways, including Phenix Rods, Avet Reels, and much more. This morning, Brian led an informative tackle seminar, covering wahoo, yellowfin, and yellowtail fishing techniques. The guys are busy rigging up and getting anxious for our first day of tomorrow.

Our first day of fishing was a success with some monster wahoo and yellowfin tuna. After dinner, we prepared a tank of mackerel for some nighttime yellowtail fishing. Fingers crossed for a few trophies! Tomorrow, we'll be back grinding for wahoo and tuna.

Tackle Express/ Phenix Rods/ Brett Edmondson 10 Day

by Brian Pifer, 10-12-2024

This morning, we tried our luck trolling and throwing bombs for wahoo, but the bite was a little slower today for us. We switched gears and drifted for some big yellowfin tuna, ranging from 60-90 pounds, using 50-60-pound fly line. These fish definitely kicked our butt's and gave us a workout. We are making a move inside to look for more yellowfin, yellowtail, and wahoo.

Our guys had an incredible day of yellowfin tuna fishing! We also had a good hit on yellowtail in the afternoon, and to top things off, we caught a 25lb albacore. Do you think it was lost?

Another day, another hit on beautiful yellowtail and big yellowfin tuna to finish our day. We are heading up the line to check a few spots along the coast for more yellowtail and whatever else comes our way.

Tackle Express/ Phenix Rods/ Brett Edmondson 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-15-2024

Today was primarily a travel day, but we made a few stops for bass and yellowtail fishing. We managed to land a few yellowtail, but the tuna seemed to be everywhere, making it tough to keep our dropper loops and yoyo jigs intact. A bit late on the post, but Ed and Rolo prepared a delicious sushi spread for everyone to enjoy on our Tackle Express/ Brett Edmondson 10 Day trip.

We wrapped up our trip with some exciting coastal fishing, catching yellowtail and white seabass, along with plenty of calico bass, sand bass, sheephead, whitefish, cuda, and bonito. We have beautiful weather for our journey home.

OC Tuna Club 10 Day

by Brian Pifer, 10-19-2024

We embarked on our Orange County Tuna Club 10 Day trip with Doug Inouye and a fun group of guys yesterday afternoon. After loading up the boat with sardines, we set sail for down south. Doug has been showering us with giveaways, and there are even more surprises in store. This morning, we dove into a tackle seminar and gearing up for an epic fishing adventure.

OC Tuna Club 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-20-2024

We arrived just as the wahoo bite was slowing down. Despite hours of trolling, drifting, and anchoring, we managed to land a few nice wahoo and tuna. We'll be back at it tomorrow, hoping for a better bite

The wahoo were biting today, and our guys put in a lot of work to land these beasts. Once the wahoo action slowed down in the afternoon, we switched gears and had great success with big yellowfin tuna and some nice yellowtail. We'll be back at it tomorrow before deciding on our next move.

While the wahoo fishing wasn't as productive today, we certainly put in the miles trolling. We managed to catch some wahoo, tuna, and yellowtail before making a 150-mile move inside for a prime yellowfin fishing spot. We'll be there first thing in the morning, ready to get our hands dirty.

OC Tuna Club 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-23-2024

The yellowfin tuna fishing continues to amaze us on every trip south. It's incredible to catch 40-70 pound fish that are hungry for anything you throw at them. After tagging what the guys wanted, we're switching gears and focus on yellowtail for the next couple of days.

OC Tuna Club 10 Day

by Brian Pifer, 10-24-2024

We kicked off the day with some yellowtail fishing. While the bite wasn't explosive, we managed to pick away. We made a few more stops along the way and caught additional yellowtail. To cap off the day, we encountered a pod of orcas that were very friendly.

We explored a lot of water today in search of yellowtail and were rewarded with a brief window of good fishing. Tomorrow, we'll try a new area, hoping for better luck.

OC Tuna Club 10 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-26-2024

Little late on posting, but Chef Ed and Chef Chuck killed it on the sushi spread for OC Tuna Club. Thank you, chefs!!!

Today was an incredible day of fishing! We started the morning with wide-open yellowtail action. After everyone tagged what they needed, we had some fun catching sheepshead, bass, whitefish, and anything else that would bite. The group wants to catch some rockfish before heading home, so we'll make a few drifts before wrapping up the trip.

We wrapped up our day with some delicious lingcod and vermillion rockfish before heading home. Our OC Tuna Club 10 Day trip was a blast! With great company and amazing food (like that bacon-wrapped wahoo!), we can't wait for next year. Thank you to Doug Inouye, the OC Tuna Club, 310 Rods, Dave Marciano and Brandon for the crew raffle, and all the other sponsors who contributed to the giveaways. We also want to thank everyone who joined us on this new adventure.

Stan Vanderburg 11 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-29-2024

Yesterday afternoon, we set sail on our annual Stan Vanderburg Cow Killas 11-day trip. After loading up the boat with our group and sardines, we headed south. Last night, we celebrated Soda Pop's incredible milestone of 1000 days of long-range sport fishing. The Indy Crew surprised him with a personalized cake, an Indy jacket, and a plaque. Thank you, Soda Pop, for everything you do for us!

Today, we've been busy preparing for the fishing ahead. After lunch, we got creative and made homemade wahoo bombs. The first two wahoo caught using these homemade bombs will win rod and reel combos. To top it all off, Chef Chuck and Chef Rolo have prepared another amazing sushi spread for everyone to enjoy.

Stan Vanderburg 11 Day

by Indy Crew, 10-30-2024

Normally, we'd stop to fish after two days of travel, but this time, we're pushing on down to the lower banks. We're hoping to find some massive 100-300 pound yellowfin tuna over the next few days. We'll be there first thing in the morning, eager to start fishing. Wish us luck!

Stan Vanderburg 11 Day

by Brian Pifer, 10-31-2024

We arrived at the lower banks early this morning and got our anchor down for the day. We had a few bites from some big fish and managed to land a 225-pound yellowfin . There is plenty of action on marlin throughout the day. We'll be back at it tomorrow, hoping for more action on cow tuna.
