Another travel day down
Another travel day down. We've been inching closer and closer day by day while everyone is finishing up last minute adjustments to their gear. Anxious and excitement is starting to settle in knowing well be dropping lines in tomorrow morning. Weather is getting warmer and the sea state is getting nicer the further south we go. Wish us luck tomorrow!!
Fish report update/day 4 of 16- 01/10/2024
Our first day of fishing was a success. We had
steady action all day on this mid grade yellowfin
tuna ranging from 50-80lbs with a few smaller and a few over 100lbs. Flyine, sinker, jigs, kite, poppers, and all the above, say the least, they were bitting everything. Hoping for another great day tomorrow.

1/11/2024 **Exciting Fish report update!!
The bigger ones came to play today. One long drift made our day. We had a fun and busy morning on these 120-200 pound yellowfin tuna. We'll be looking for bigger baits tonight and hoping we can repeat the bite we had today.

Another great day on the Independence Sportfishing~
Another day of better grade yellowfin tuna coming over the rail. There are still plenty of mid-grade and big fish around. Lots of life throughout the day. We will try again tomorrow.

We focused on tuna all day and it paid off. These
larger models of tuna are giving us two window of opportunities to catch them. First thing in the morning and another chance in the evening. In the afternoon, it tends to be a little slower but still has
plenty of action to go around.
Fish report 1/14/2024
Today seemed like conditions changed from the
last few days. There wasn't much life of birds, current, and wind today, so we tried trolling around for wahoo. They didn't want to bite that well either but managed a few for our efforts. Ron and Chris had 2 nice yellowfin on the kite. Try again tomorrow

Fish report from Captain Brian
The tuna decided to sleep in and take the morning off today. We were able to catch a fewbig hungry tuna on their morning stroll out for breakfast, but for the most part, they didn't show. We trolled our way around and found some decent sign of wahoo. Couple good bingos on wahoo bombs and troll. Everyone is enjoying the day eating, fishing, and watching playoff football.

Indy fish report for January 17, 2024
It's nice weather to go along with fun fishing today. Spent half the day tuna fishing and half the day trying for wahoo. The tuna was aggressive at times, especially late evening. Wahoo was down, but we will try again tomorrow.
January 18th aboard the Independence
We finished our last day with a great morning
bite on tuna in the dark. PL 68 and knife jigs
were the hot ticket. Once the sun came out, guys switched over to fly-ine and sinker rigs. Opt out early on the tuna grounds to try for more wahoo, but for some reason, we never could locate nor
find schools around. We had a great trip, say the least. We will be traveling home for the next few days.

Roger Eckhardt's 16-day
We are off!!!
After a mechanical failure leaving the bait
receiver yesterday afternoon, we are under way. We had to spend the night back at the dock,
waiting for a part to arrive this morning. Once
the part arrived, we got to business installing.
We were able to assess the problem, fix it, and
get off the dock within 24 hours to start our
Roger/ Graftech Rods 16 Day. Thank you,
everyone, for being patient and understanding
the situation. Let's go catch some fish!

Today, we did our tackle seminar after breakfast. We discussed the gear everyone would need to be equipped with throughout the trip. We covered everything from yellowfin tuna, wahoo, bait making, trolling, and kite fishing. Still have a few more days of traveling to get ready, but for the meantime, everyone is enjoying each other's company and calm seas.
Smooth sailing on the Indy.
Today was relax mode. Everyone is setting up their gear at their own pace. Watching football in beaua-iful glass, calm weather cruising down. To finish off
the night, Chef Ed cooked up a delicious swordfish dinner.

Almost there!
Feels as if we've been traveling forever, but today marks our last day before we start fishing tomorrow morning. With the rain, thunder, and lightning,
everyone has put their finally touches on their gear, and im sure are very eager to put a line in the water. Wish us luck!

Fish on!
Phenomenal 1st day of fishing. We got here early morning hours and it was a bit slow for us, but they sure wanted to bite in the afternoon. We are going to make bait after dinner and do it all over again tomorrow
