- Hello again, Jeff and the guys called in with the update for friday and they reported slow fishing on the cow grounds with no bigger fish caught. They did see a good amount of the school size 25 to 40 pound yellowfin and they caught a few but overall the fish did not want bite that well for the amount that was seen. Today they are up on the ridge to try that for the day and then head up the line and fish for yellowtail tomorrow. The weather was choppy the last couple of days so hopefully it will improve for the rest of the trip. The big fish that we have been fishing lately have been hard to get on when the weather kicks up like it is now, so hopefully the fish are just down at the moment. We hope everyone has a safe and happy new year. Best wishes in "06", The Indy staff

12-29-2005
- Good evening, The e-mail on the boat is not up to speed at the moment. Today jeff called in with the report for the day with good fishing on 30 to 50 pound yellowfin but no sign of the bigger fish, tomorrow they are going to try a new area for the larger yft so we will report when the info comes in. Have a great night, The Indy Staff.

12-27-2005

12-14-2005
- Good afternoon, We our on last leg of the trip home and should arrive at about 08:30 in the morning. The weather has turned a bit sour on us with 15-18 knots of wind and choppy seas, but after 8 days of flat calm seas will take those odds any time. We will be in until the day after Christmas so this will be the last report from the boat until then. Happy Holidays, Mark and the boys.

12-13-2005
- Good day everyone, Today was a travel more or less, we stopped to catch a few yellowtail for dinner on the ridge for about an hour and a half. The weather has been pleasant with 10 to 15 knots of wind and very little sea. We will be in Thursday morning between 8 and 9 am depending on the weather; we will update the ETA. tomorrow. Good night, Mark, Kyle, Ted, Sean, Dan, Steven, Walt and Rolf.

12-12-2005
- Good morning, We are now on are way north to San Diego with a very nice catch under are belts and every angler aboard the Independence has a new personal best tuna. Our Last day was the slowest day as far as numbers but most of the fish were either right at 200 pounds or better up to about 265 pounds. Weather was again in our favor with light winds and little seas. We are going to stop for an hour and catch some yellowtail or grouper for dinner. We'll check back later. Have a nice day, Mark and the boys.

12-11-2005
- Good evening everyone, We had a nice day on the big fish grounds again today. The fish today were 160 to 235, so the historic bite of 2005 continues and everyone on board is very happy. We are going to do this for one more day tomorrow and hope to put together a good last day here and head straight for home without stopping. We miss all our loved ones back home and can't wait to spend the Holiday's with you. Wish us luck, Mark and the crew.

12-10-2005
- Hola, we have just finished our third day on the cow grounds and we had another good day. For the day we had 20 fish from 150 to 260, we also caught 4 70-80 pound yellowfin that just happened to get in the way on one stop. I know this sounds redundant but the weather is like a lake so we did not catch a fish on the kite or balloons today but that's ok we'll take this weather any day over the trickster fishing. We are currently soaking giant squid for swordfish and hoping for 1 or 2 and having another great dinner. Thanks for checking in and have a great weekend, Mark, Kyle, Ted, Sean, Dan, Steven, Walt and Rolf.

12-09-2005
- Hello from all of us on board the Independence, Today we again battled big Yellowfin tuna and had a decent day ending up with 15 nice fish from 150 to 235 pounds. Today was different in that we had a good morning snap but nothing in the afternoon at all. We did see plenty of fish all day long that would not bite or boil up at all. We are going to be here again in hopes the fish will hold to there recent trend of ‘on for a day or two’ and ‘off for a day or two ‘. So hopefully the bite will be good tomorrow for us and the rest of the guys down here. We have room on our JAN. 24th 18 day trip if anyone wants to enjoy some world class fishing. Thanks for checking us out, Mark and the boys.

12-08-2005
- Good evening to all, today was our first day in the big yellowfin area and we have started the trip with a bang, we had 24 fish for the day with the biggest one taped at 265. The weather was flat calm all day with no wind at all. Most of the day was spent looking at fish that would not bite. We did get some justice right at dark with a school in which we had up to 10 going at one time into to the dark of night. We are going to try to make bait tonight and be back at it in the morning. Talk to you later, Mark and the crew

12-06-2005
- Hello folks, Today was a travel day down the beautiful Baja Peninsula in sunny warm weather and flat seas. We had a very detailed seminar on fishing for the bigger tuna that we have been catching. Our guys are now ready to rock and roll after a full afternoon of rigging tackle. Tomorrow we'll be looking offshore in hopes of wahoo and dorado off of kelps. Wish us luck, Mark and the boys.

12-05-2005
- Good evening everyone, Today we returned from our annual Sav-On tackle 10-day trip with another outstanding catch of big yellowfin tuna. We had a total of 34 tuna over the 200-pound mark. The jackpot fish were as follows: 1st place went to Jim Audette with a 289.7 yellowfin, 2nd place went to Jerry Eldridge with a 289.5 yellowfin and 3rd place went to Dale Lethcoe with a 286.0 yellowfin. We are now on our way back down to cow town in great weather with a beautiful load of sardines. The weather forecast looks good for the next few days so hopefully the fish will keep on doing what they have been doing the last 2 months. Wish us luck, Mark, Kyle, Ted, Danny, Sean, Steven, Walt and Rolf.

12-04-2005
- Hello everyone, not too much to report here except a restful day of football on television along with a few red cod in the morning. We watched a DVD that Barry Wiggins made of all the big fish action we had on the trip. Most everyone was amazed at the size of the big fish we had on this trip. Everyone caught his or her personal best again. We will be back to San Diego at 0600 tomorrow, and the boat is back out at noon on another extravaganza. see ya later, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

12-03-2005
- Hello everyone. Today we fished for yellowtail, and had fair action on fish 18 to 25 lbs. most everything we caught was on the yoyo jigs. We also spent the day watching some great college football. The weather has kicked up a bit, and I think we will have a choppy ride up the line. Other than that we do not have much more to report. See ya later, Jeff, Paul and crew

12-02-2005
- Hello everyone. Here is a brief account for today. We fished for tuna, and wahoo, and yellowtail all day, at a couple of spots. We had for the most part, an action packed time, and it was a great way for everyone to relax, if they chose, or go out and mix it up with the fish that were on a feeding frenzy. We are headed up the beach to try for some more yellowtail for tomorrow. Again the weather is as beautiful as the past week has been. We will report again tomorrow, wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and the Indy boys

12-01-2005
- Good evening everyone. Things were a little bit different here today, in the fact that we didn’t see the volume of fish we saw yesterday, and the ones we did see wouldn’t bite. We did manage to catch 12 tuna today, with 7 tuna going over 200lbs. up to 255lbs. I must say we have had ample chances at these giants, with a fair amount lost for every reason known to man. We are going to switch gears for tomorrow, and try some different areas. The weather is still great. Check in tomorrow for more updates, Jeff, Paul and crew

11-30-2005
- Hello and good evening everyone, today things looked better all the way around. We without a doubt saw the best fish sign as well as fish that wanted to bite a little bit all day today. We did have the usual number of fatalities that go along with this type of fishing, strictly trophies. Our final tally for today, 24 tuna with 13 of them over 200lbs. and the largest taped out at 290lbs., and a couple of 280"s, and it goes down from there 260, 250 , etc...while the others were 175 to 195 lbs.. Truly REMARKABLE fishing for everyone. We plan on fishing for these warriors of the sea 1 more day, in hopes of putting together another great day. The weather is still as good as it gets anywhere on the planet. Good night, and wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and the Indy boys

11-29-2005
- Hello everyone, There is definitely no sure thing when it comes to fishing these giants down here. Yesterday, we could not catch one to save our lives. Today on the other hand, we had some chances. We saw quite a few fish today, just like yesterday; they did not want to bite. We did manage to catch 11 tuna, 2 @ 280 lbs. 2@ 265 lbs., 250, 240, 227 and the rest were 175 to 195 lbs. we hope that these cows start to bite a little bit better for us tomorrow. The weather is absolutely perfect. To: Randy Nishino....Tom and I got a 280 on the kite together, signed dad. We are going to try this again tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and crew

11-27-2005
- Good evening everyone, here is a quick rundown for today. We spent most of the day looking offshore for kelps and such. We found a couple of small ones that produced 40 Dorado or so. We later on dropped the anchor for a while, and caught 35 yellowtail that were decent grade, and then it got dark. We are going to try something different for tomorrow. The weather is getting better all the time for us. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and crew

11-26-2005
- Hello, and good afternoon to everyone. First of all the entire crew of the independence would like to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving, and we hope everyone who is not on the boat with us right now is having a great holiday. We are presently on our way down the beach on a 10-day Sav-On tackle sponsored trip. We stopped and loaded the boat with some choice sardines, and have great weather for travelling down the line. The anglers received some great give-a-ways, and spent the rest of the day watching football, and just plain relaxing. We sincerely hope to keep the ball rolling, on the quest for these cow tuna, as the boat just returned with 30 of these brutes over the 200lb. mark. Everything looks good for us, as our timing and moon etc... We will spend the next entire day getting rigged up for these giants. Wish us luck, Jeff and the Indy boys

11-25-2005
- Hello again, We hope that everyone had a great thanksgiving with there family's. We ended up having more of the 200 plus pound yellowfin then we thought on our 11/13 to 11/23 10 day trip. The jackpot ended up as follows 1st Place went to Bud Edwards with a 286.2 lb. yellowfin tuna, Bud also celebrated his 80th brithday on this trip with his first tuna over 200 pounds after many years of trying for one. Second place went to Shawn Thompson with a 263.7 yellowfin tuna,Shawn also had a 210. Third place went to Billy Cannon with a 263.0, Billy also had a 242 and 223. Others that joined the 200 lb. Club were Clarence Becker with a 216, John Brake with a 201, Henry Lomakin with a 211, John Jeffreys with a 230, John Preston with a 211.5, Thomas Drennan with a 213.6, Hollywood Dominguez with a 225.4, Jimmy Jimenez with a 214, then the 100 lb. Breaks at 100 lb. on the scale, where as 100 lb. Izorline breaks at between 130 and 135, we have done the test ourself and that is the staight scoop on that. As far as the reels and rods, The crew has handled everything on the market and I will say we all agree the Avet reels we have as loaner tackle and the one's our anglers bring onboard have out performed all others hands down, and you can take that to the bank. All reels can have some type of probelm in the coarse of being put under the abuse we put on them, but like I have said before the Avets have come though with flying colors. We like both Seeker and Calstar as brands of choice for rods and no one can argue that as we have had almost no rod failure with both brands on these big fish. We will report more tackle findings as we find out the best ways to be sucessful in the pursuit of big fish. Good Luck sincerely, Capt. Mark Pisano and the crew of the Independence.

11-23-2005
- Today we returned from our Clarence becker 10 day adventure with a beautiful load of yellowfin tuna, 83 fish from 125 to 286 lbs. of which 30 were over 200 lbs. we also caught wahoo to 95.6 lbs.yellowtail, dorado and a mix of many other species. we will post a full report tomorrow.

11-22-2005
- Hello again from the Independence, We have spent the last 2 days working our way home to San Diego in perfect weather. Yesterday we were fishing for yellowtail at various spots along the coast for just a little bit of action on 18 to 25 lb. yellowtail, Today we managed to pull in some 10 to 15 pounders with mixture of lingcod and rockfish to go with it. We are currently traveling to port in flat seas, the weather the entire trip has been absolutely heavenly and we hope there is more to come on our upcoming trips. The fishing prospects look promising on our next few trips with the big tuna still on the bite. I have just talked to Judy in the office and we have 3 spots left on our 12/5 10 day GIANT TUNA SPECIAL so the trip is a go for sure. Jeff and myself will be on the trip and we plan to just target the big yellowfin tuna on this trip. We will dock at Point Loma Sportfishing at 7:45am. Good Evening and hope to see you on Dec. 5TH, Mark Pisano and the crew.

11-20-2005
- Hello everyone, Today we worked are way up the ridge, slowly heading for home. Had some action on good size wahoo in the 40 to 60 lb. range along with dorado in the 8 to 20 lb. range. We had flat calm weather again today as well. Most of the yellowtail and tuna we caught were small and were released; we also caught 1 60-lb. Black Sea bass, which was also released. We plan on fishing yellowtail tomorrow on the beach somewhere and enjoying this great weather. Good night, Mark and the crew

11-19-2005
- Good evening, Another EPIC day on the BIG yellowfin tuna, we had 42 fish for the day from 140lbs to 270 lbs. with about 15 going over the 200 lb. mark. Just FANTASTIC fishing to say the least. We did lose some big fish due to the nature of this type of fishing. At times we had as many as 17 fish going at one time, which happened not once but twice. The second time was as the sun was setting which made things a little tough on keeping all the fish untangled. When all was said and done everyone has caught at least one big tuna and they all have a new personal best! These Anglers are all VERY happy and VERY tired. Have a great day. Mark and the boys.

11-18-2005
- Good evening, Bare with me as my hands are not working well at the moment, we just finished a 6 hour drift for 31 yellowfin tuna in the 140 lb. to 260 lb. range. There were way to many heartbreakers today due to the type of bite it was. During a 2 hour period we had 12 to 15 fish going and it made it very tough with 5 to 8 guys in the corner on big fish at all times. The weather is perfect with 3 to 4 knots of wind so the fish stayed up and down next to the boat in our bite making it tough going on these MONSTERS. We are going to fish here for another day to try to get everyone on board there personal best. There were many personal bests today and hopefully more tomorrow. Stay tuned for more on this bite of EPIC proportions. Sleep tight I know everyone here will, Mark, Kyle, Tommy, Ronnie, Danny, Steven, Rolf and Garrett.

11-17-2005
- Hello again, The weather was beautiful again so that was in our favor for locating the fish, The fishing this morning was on again off again. Just enough hook-ups to keep everyone busy. The afternoon bite was considerably better as we caught 51 fish in the 30 to 120 lb. Range. Were going to continue hit a few other spots though out the rest of the day. Tomorrow we are going to start the day in a different area hoping to get the ball rolling again on the bigger fish. Talk to ya later, Mark and the crew.

11-16-2005
- Good evening, Today was our first day in the big fish zone and we managed to land 8 fish in the 150 to 190 lb. class. There is a good amount of fish around this zone as we saw lots of fish that would just lay under the boat and not bite, or boil all around the boat and only pick off a few baits with hooks. We did lose a few big fish to pulled hooks mostly, the guys are all using good gear and 100 lb. to 135 lb. test so there were none lost to broken lines. We are going to do this again tomorrow and have high hopes as the whole fleet saw good sign of fish and the weather is flat calm. Wish us luck, Mark and the boys.

11-15-2005
- Good evening, Today we fished the ridge for some action on yellowfin tuna and yellowtail and had to weed though the skipjack to get what we got. The weather was picture perfect with 5 knots of wind and very little sea. It was good to let the guys pull on some fish before we tackle the bigger yellowfin tuna tomorrow. It sounds like the big fish are still in the area and the fleet today all did well there. Check back later and wish us luck, Mark, Kyle, Tommy, Ron, Steven, Dan. Rolf and Garrett. P.S. Everyone on board wants to say hi to Sam Romero and we hope you feel better and wish you could have been here.

11-13-2005
- Hello everyone, yesterday we returned from our Young's Tackle 10-day trip with an outstanding catch of yellowfin tuna up to 280lbs.... The total was 35 over 200 lbs. with another 85 fish in the 135 to 199 lb. range. Jackpot winners were as follows: Bob Carter with a 285.3 yellowfin tuna, Ron Volmer with a 273.1 yellowfin tuna and Mike Mushinskie with a 271.0 yellowfin tuna. All the guys on the trip did a great job of putting these tough fish on board. We are now on our Clarence Becker charter and are headed south in good weather with a very good load of sardines and mackerel. We have just finished our extensive tackle talk on fishing for and landing big tuna. Clarence is now doing a raffle with give away items from Darrall Primrose of Ballyhoo in Santa Ana. B & F Rod and Reel in Ontario and Avet Reels in Chatsworth. We would like to express our Gratitude to all the Sponsors for the great gear our anglers will now put to use on the trip. Talk to ya later, Mark and the boys.

11-12-2005
- Hello and good afternoon everyone. Today we traveled all day, and did a few odds & ends, as well as watched some college football on t.v. Most everyone is still in awe over that 4-day stretch of epic tuna fishing we had. This is the second trip in a row that everyone on board has caught his or her personal best tuna. To me that is quite amazing. Out of the 120 big fish we have, I think we have between 35 & 40 fish over the 200lb. mark, up to 285 lbs. we will find out in the morning. Again I hope we can keep the ball rolling on this most incredible fall bite. The boat will dock at Point Loma Sportfishing at 6am, If you want to see a beautiful catch of fish meet us at the dock. See you later Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

11-11-2005
- Hi, good evening everyone, not too much to report for today, except for some yellowtail fishing, and calico bass for lunch. We had another kick back day in this great weather, catching some fish, and breaking down our gear in between moves. We are now headed back to San Diego, and will be arriving on Sunday at 0600. See you then, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

11-10-2005
- Good evening everyone, Here is a quick rundown for today. Everyone was pretty much in the slow motion for most of the day, and was just enjoying the weather. We got what we came for, so now it was time for us to tone things down. All I can say for the last few days is we are dogged out tired...We tried for some wahoo, and yellowtail, and kept a few tuna for the r s w well. Ended up with 10 wahoo and a couple of dozen yellows.WOW is all I can say.. No words to describe the fishing. We’re going to try for more yellowtail tomorrow. See ya then, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

11-09-2005
- Well, after a good nights sleep, we were hard at it again today. Things were a little bit different in that we did not see quite the sign we did yesterday. We did manage to catch 20 tuna, from 140 to 190 lbs. we had a couple of heavy fish hooked in our morning drift that got away due to the hooks breaking in half. These were quality hooks mind you, and the fish were definitely over 200 lbs. the weather is choppy all day, and made it tough to locate fish after about 1100. We are now departing the cow zone, and are making a move for tomorrow’s destination. We will have another report tomorrow, wish us lucked. Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

11-08-2005
- Hello, you know there comes a time in a persons life when one comes to realization that they have waited their entire life for something, and finally it is here. I am talking about today. In all truthful accounts, today was by far the best fishing I have ever experienced in all my years at sea. Epic does not begin to explain today. One word comes to mind “ Incredible “! We drifted for 14 hours and were busy the entire time, pulling and yanking with all our mites on giant yellowfin tuna. When all the dust settled, we boated 63 of these trophies, from 170 to 285 lbs. we had 23 fish over the 200 lb. I have to say that these guys really put it to " em " today. Everything was the hot ticket today, as we tried multiple techniques to land these brutes. We are going to try this again tomorrow. The weather is absolutely as good as it gets. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul, and the Indy boys

11-07-2005
- Hello and good evening everyone. Things looked very good down here today. From sunrise to sunset. The major hit for us came right at dark, as we got on to a good school of cows. When all was said and done we added another 11 fish to the count, bringing the total to 22 fish for the day. They ranged from 175 to 280 lbs., and I think we had 12 or 13 - 200 pounders. I can’t get over the sheer numbers of trophy yellowfin tuna we are hunting every day down here. The weather is absolutely as good as it gets. We plan on trying this again tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul, and crew

11-06-2005
- Hello everyone, We were in big fish country all day. We started out the day with a bang, as we started hooking fish right at daybreak, and stopped around 1400 hrs. The afternoon proved to be a little slow, but we did get 2 more fish right at dark. The total for the day is 19 big Tuna, and some school sized 30 to 40 lbs. Most fish were 160 to 195; we did manage 3 fish 200 to 235 lbs. The weather proved to be good, as we needed some wind to make the boat drift properly. We are going to try this again for tomorrow, in hopes of some more of this great action on trophies. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and crew

11-05-2005
- Hi everyone, we arrived at our designated starting spot around 1400 hrs, and had some decent action on tuna and groupers, as well as some yellowtail. It was the perfect way to get everyone used to fishing with each other. The weather was again breezy today, but not quite like yesterday. Our plan is to try for some bigguns tomorrow, in hopes of keeping the ball rolling on these magnificent, trophy yellowfin tuna. We will have another report tomorrow. Wish us luck. Jeff, Paul and the Indy boys

11-04-2005
- Hello and good afternoon everyone. Here is a quick rundown on today. We spent the day doing some vast preparation for the trip. Showing everyone the latest rigging techniques that we may need to battle the brutes we hope to encounter down the road. The rest of the day was spent relaxing and catching up with everyone. There are quite a few guys on board that I have not seen for a couple of years. Our weather is windy right and has been this way all day. We hope it gets better. Buddy Stevens would like to wish his wife a happy birthday! We will report again tomorrow when we have something to add to this. Take care, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

The weather was a classic Santa Ana day, with little or no wind, and hot, sun all day. It was really a great way to end an absolutely stellar trip. 10-30-2005
- Hello everyone. Today started out pretty much like yesterday. In the morning with a few hearts breaks first thing. We did get a shot at some bigguns mid morning and ended up with 7 good fish from 180 to 285 lbs. we had 1 fish out with 2 back-up rigs attached die and sink to the bottom, this happened when the best sign of the day was around. It took 2 hours to crank this 200-lb. fish off the bottom, and I feel we missed the bite. The rest of the afternoon we hit some 40 to 50 lb. fish while looking for a spot of big fish. When all is said and done, we had spectacular fishing for three days on these trophies. We are headed to another destination for tomorrows fishing we will talk to you all later. Jeff and crew

10-29-2005
- Wow, where do I begin? Good evening everyone, things just keep getting better and better down here. We put together another fabulous day on these brutes again. We had many chances again on these trophy fish of a lifetime. We ended up with 23 fish again, 10 fish over the 200 lb. with fish up to 260 lb. most of the others are 170 to 190 lb. We did have some casualties again on these warriors of the sea. The weather is again in our favor, as it is perfect. With that said, I am going to grab a hot shower, and a hand full of motrin. We are going to try this again tomorrow, so wish us luck, Jeff and crew If you are interested in fishing these big bruts call Judy 619 226 6006, 1 spot still available.

10-28-2005
- Well, what can I say about today? Today is one of those days you dream about if you are a serious fisherman, or if you are not a serious fisherman and you were wondering what it would be like to have giant tuna crashing around the boat all day. We got on a good school of these cows right at daylight, and they stayed with us until 1400 hrs. At times we had as many as 8 fish going at a time. We did have some heartbreak on these brutes, as they are hard to land. When the dust had settled, we had boated 23 fish from 180 to 265 lbs. I think we had 11 fish over the 200-lb. Many around 190 to 198 lbs. it was really a sight to behold, these fish jumping right next to the boat. We are going to try this again tomorrow in hopes of another banner day. The weather is absolutely perfect. Wish us luck, Jeff and crew

10-27-2005
- Hello and good evening everyone. Today we had some great action on 25 to 30 lb. tuna, as well as some yellowtail, and wahoo. We tried a few different spots throughout the day under sunny blue skies. The weather is quite good right now, which is going to play a key role in our success. Everyone had a great time today, and we're looking forward to trying for some big tuna. We have that in our future plans. Right now things look good for us. We will report again tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff and crew

10-26-2005
- Good evening everyone, here is a quick report for today. We traveled down the beach until 1300 hrs. Spent the afternoon trying various spots. We had some action on the 20 to 30 lb. tuna, as well as a few yellowtail, and a wahoo. The weather is slightly breezy, but not unworkable. We’re going to keep working down for tomorrow for more of the same type fishing. Wish us luck, Jeff and crew

10-25-2005
- Hello everyone, here is a quick rundown for the Independence. Returned to San Diego yesterday with a great catch of tuna and wahoo, yellowtail and dorado. There was some real standout tuna, with 6 over the 200lb. We departed on another 10-day extravaganza; this one is sponsored by Purfield's Tackle. After a stop at the bait receiver and loading the boat with some choice bait, we cleared the point around 1400 hrs. We are headed for points south, and will pick a starting point sometime later today. The weather is excellent, and we are hoping to keep the ball rolling as far as this epic fishing is concerned. Today will be spent with a tackle seminar, as well as getting everyone rigged and ready for the trip. We will report again when we have some news. Talk to you later, Jeff and crew

10-24-2005
- We returned today from our fisherman's hardware 10 trip. We had classic fall fishing with good fishing everyday of the trip. Our big yellowfin of the trip were as follows, Jeromy Bonaguidi with a 264.9,John Gillis with a 222.7, Michael Halapoff with a 215.4, Edward Carares with a 211.1,Mike Donahue with a 209.4,Jim Penny with a 200.1. and we had 10 more fish from 126.4 to 193.7, Just an outstanding trip in terms of big fish. We did have many heartbreakers during our epic Sundown into the dark bite. These fish proved to be tougher than the usual yellowfin we catch for what ever reason. We also caught a 126 lb. grouper along with 6 others in the 70 to 100 lb. class. we ended up with 88 wahoo the largest being 77.7 lbs. for Jerry Penny of Las Vegas. We also caught Lots of school size yellowfin tuna in the 20 to 40 lb. range along with good numbers of Dorado and yellowtail. Fishing on upcoming trips looks to be very special so get on a trip if you can and "let's get ready to rumble" with these beasts.

10-23-2005
- The Independence will tie up at Point Loma Sportfishing at 6:45am on Monday Oct 24.

10-22-2005
- Good evening to all, Today we fished for yellowtail and had a good afternoon bite on 12 to 20 lb. yellowtail. We ended the day with limits and are now headed north and we may fish a little bit tomorrow if the weather is good. Most of the fish we caught today were on the yo-yo iron fishing in 200 feet of water. The smaller salas 6x jr. in various colors worked the best. Have a good night and we will report on our final day tomorrow. Mark and the crew.

10-21-2005
- Hello again from the independence, Today we worked up the line and had a mix of wahoo, tuna, Grouper, Dorado and yellowtail. The weather is about 14 to 18 knots so it's a little choppy making our way north. Tomorrow we plan to try for yellowtail on the coast somewhere around San Pablo and work north from there. The trip so far has been a good one and we are hoping the footage Bill Roecker and his cameraman Paul Sweeney took will come out clear during our bite on big tuna. Have a great day, Mark, Kyle, Ron, Tom, Steven, Ben, Walt and Garrett.

10-20-2005
- Good evening everyone, Before we talk about fishing I need to talk about tackle for those of you lucky enough to be on the next few 10 day trips with us. You will need some heavy tackle in the 135 to 150 lb. ranges. Today the folks who had it did well. You MUST!!!! Have a 50 or better yet a 50W with 135/200lb. spec. backing and a 50 to 100 yd top shot of mono. On a good 5 1/2 or 6 foot Seeker or Calstar rod. Today we had 15 fish up to 258lbs. and lost at least 2 that would have been closer to 300 lbs. We had our best stop of the day late and had 150 to 260+ lb. fish doing backflips 20 ft from the boat. Everyone on the boat hooked at least 2 out of the stop and needless to say it was complete chaos. Believe it or not we do have a few spots open on our next trip, so call Judy now if you can make it with us on the 24th it should be fun. Good night and bring plenty of advil. See you soon, Mark, Kyle and the rest of the Indy crew.

10-19-2005
- Good Evening, Today we fished for yellowfin tuna. We caught 6 nice fish in the 140 to 190 lb. class, as is this case many times when we fish for fish in this class there many heartbreakers and today was no different as we lost some fish in the 200 + pound range. We will test are skills again tomorrow on these brutes and hope we can land some of these cows. The weather is up a bit so hopefully it will come down and make catching a little easier. Good night Mark and the crew.

10-18-2005
- Hello again from the Independence, Today we had classic fall ridge fishing highlighted by near perfect weather. We started the day looking for wahoo and only putting 1 on the boat, next we anchored up on a spot of 20 to 35 lb. yellowfin tuna that bit good for us and we caught our limits for the day. Next we took a look around and put some more wahoo on board out of a few spots. The last 2 hours of our fishing day were spent on the anchor catching yellowtail, wahoo and grouper up to 110lbs. And we had a blast. We are headed to make bait in Mag Bay and fish for big boys the next 2 days so wish us luck, Mark and the boys. P.S. Ray says hi to his wife Becka with love.

10-17-2005
- Today's news, We had a good day here at the rocks on wahoo mixed with yellowfin tuna. We ended the day with 39 nice grade wahoo in the 35 to 45lb. class. The tuna are mostly 30 to 90 lbs. The hot ticket for the wahoo was 30 to 40lb. wire with a 3/0 j hook fished with a sardine. The jigs only caught a couple of fish. most of the tuna was caught on flylined sardines on 30 to 50 lb. mono with floro helping to get bit. We’re headed to Mag. Bay via the ridge to make bait and then fish offshore for some of the larger tuna. We’ll report again tomorrow with the day's action so until then think big and wish us luck. Mark, Kyle, Tommy, Ron, Steven, Ben, Walter and Garrett.

10-16-2005
- Hello again from the bridge Independence, Today was our first day of fishing and the trip has gotten off to a good start. This morning before reaching Alijos we found nice kelp and caught our daily limits of 15 to 30 lb. Dorado. Upon getting to the rocks we looked around a bit before finding some fish to put the anchor down on. We then started to hook a good amount of Wahoo and we managed to land 23 nice grade fish out of at least 70 hook-ups, That's about the norm fishing them with sardine's and light wire as we did today. We did see some very nice tuna as well around the boat but only landed 2 in the 40 to 70 lb. range along with (11) 20 to 25 lb. yellowtail. We are spending the night and will try this again tomorrow before heading elsewhere. Good night, Mark and the boys.

10-14-2005
- Hello everyone, It's good to be out on the water again after some time shore-side working on a few things. We departed the landing at noon and put on a very healthy load of 6 to 8 inch sardines on. We are currently headed south either to Alijos or the ridge to start our trip. The weather is as flat as a board and we have pea soup fog, the forecast is for some wind the next 2 days and then it is forecast to lay back down around the time we start fishing. Wish us luck, Mark and the crew.

10-13-2005
- Hello everyone, we are currently traveling to San Diego, We ended up having a great trip in terms of quality fish caught, as well as quite a few personal bests on tuna and wahoo. Things look pretty good in a number of places, and I hope we can keep the ball rolling in terms of stringing together these fall trips. We will be back in the morning at 0630, and back out in the afternoon on another 10-day trip. See you later, Jeff Paul and Indy crew

10-12-2005
- Hello and good evening everyone, here is the run down for today. We dedicated the entire day to yellowtail fishing. What we found in our travels most of the many areas we fished today had less than perfect conditions for fishing. We had lack of current, and lots of wind at times, as well as the fish just not biting. None the less we made a day of it, as we caught our daily limits of nice grade yellows. We are currently on a course for San Diego, and the weather is windy, but not too bumpy. We will post our last report for the trip tomorrow. Jeff, Paul and The Indy Boys

10-11-2005
- Hello everyone, here is what we have to report at this time. Today we went exploring, and saw good sign of 18 to 27 lb. yellowfin tuna. At one point we were getting some good grade yellowtail, but they quit bitting. The rest of the day we spent offshore looking for kelps and things with no results. We are going to spend tomorrow in search of yellowtail, and put in a full day. The weather is still quite nice for us. We will give you the full wrap up tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul & The Indy Boys

10-10-2005
- Good afternoon everyone, here is the Columbus Day report from the Independence . Excellent yellowfin tuna fishing, they ranged anywhere from 25 – 35 pounds. The anglers were keeping the crew quite busy tagging and gaffing. Picked up more wahoo and had sampling of 20 – 25# yellowtail. The weather is great, we will report again tomorrow. Be Safe. Jeff, Paul and Indy Boys

10-09-2005
- Good afternoon everyone, here is the Sunday report for the independence. Again we started the day off with some kite action, most of which was yellowfin tuna, although there were some wahoo lurking around as well. Things stayed pretty steady for the most part until around 1300 hrs. When things pretty much slowed down for us. When all was said and done, we tallied up tuna, and wahoo. Of the numbers of tuna, half were that 50 to 125 lb. fish. We are currently headed to the inside, for a couple of days on the ridge. The weather is great, and everyone has come away with some really quality tuna for their efforts. We will report again tomorrow. Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

10-08-2005
- Hello everyone, here is the report for today. Things started out with a bang. shortly after daylight we had good action on the kites. After a while things sort of slowed down. We did scratch throughout the day on tuna and wahoo. We ended up with a nice catch of tuna, of, which were 50 to 125lbs, and a good number of wahoo. We are going to try this again tomorrow in hopes of putting a catch together before we head inside for a couple of days. The weather is still good, and we hope it stays that way. Until then, take care, and wish us luck. Jeff, Paul, and Indy crew

10-07-2005
- Good evening everyone, here is a brief rundown for today. Things started off on the slow side. This morning for the most part we were catching smaller tuna, (18 to 40 lbs.). We stuck it out at this spot for the afternoon and had a great p.m. bite on the kites. It was full speed at times. This grade of fish was what we came here for. We ended up with 26 of the better grade, 60 to 165 lbs. fish. I think we had 6 fish over 100 lbs., and others that were 70 to 90 lbs. everyone caught a better size fish today The wahoo was rather scarce, as we landed 5 fish for our efforts. We are going to try this again tomorrow in hopes of a repeat day. The weather is absolutely perfect. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

10-06-2005
- Good evening everyone, We arrived at the rocks around 12:30PM, and got the anchor down for the afternoon. We had some action on tuna, as well as some yellowtail, and 1 wahoo. The tuna were 30 to 85 lbs.; we are going to see if they want to cooperate tomorrow. The weather is good as well. We will report again tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff, Paul and Indy crew

10-05-2005
- Hello again everyone, here is a quick report to get us caught up. We returned from a 10-day trip yesterday, and things look good down below in most areas we looked at. We managed to put together a good trip on tuna, wahoo, yellowtail, and some grouper. All 3 places in jackpot were over 100 lbs. we have departed on another 10-day extravaganza, in hopes of fulfilling our quest for quality and quantity. Our current trip is sponsored by Fish' n Fools tackle, and there are many many great give-aways for everyone on board. Besides all the rods and reels, there are rod belts, jigs, wahoo bombs, and miles of line to fill our reels. We are currently running down the line, and will make a move as where we will start the trip. Talk to you later, Jeff, Paul and The Indy Boys

10-05-2005
- Hi everyone, we arrived at our designated starting spot around 1400 hrs, and had some decent action on tuna and groupers, as well as some yellowtail. It was the perfect way to get everyone used to fishing with each other. The weather was again breezy today, but not quite like yesterday. Our plan is to try for some bigguns tomorrow, in hopes of keeping the ball rolling on these magnificent, trophy yellowfin tuna. We will have another report tomorrow. Wish us luck. Jeff, Paul and the Indy boys

- The boat came into today from our first 10 day trip of the year with a nice catch of the usual fall mix, yellofin tuna, yellowtail, wahoo and grouper. the jackpot fish were as follows:1st. place went to Sam Romero with a 117.6 lb. yellowfin tuna,2nd place went to Andy Toles wtih a 111.8 yellowfin tuna and 3rd place went to Ulysses Quijada with a 102.9 grouper. The weather was mostly on the nice side of things. Hurricane Otis did come up the line toward the end of the trip but did not hamper things in the fishing department. We would like to thank all the folks this year for making the trip and again thank Terry and Rob from Art's tackle for helping sponser the trip with all the give away tackle. If anyone would like to get on this trip for next year please call the office to reserve your spot today. Thanks again and good fishing to all. The Indy boys of fall.

10-01-2005
- Hello everyone, here is the latest from the Indy. Today we put all our efforts into trying for yellowtail, and we had some good action with jigs and bait. The guys really had a great time fishing in the hot sun yanking and pulling on these 15 to 25 pounders. The weather is great right now, but is going to change in a couple of days. We are going to try this again for tomorrow. Wish us luck, Jeff and the Indy Boys

09-30-2005
- Good evening everyone, here is the report for yesterday and today. We fished offshore yesterday, and covered a large stretch of ocean for nothing. We had numerous porpoise schools and logs that had nothing on them. Today on the other hand, we had excellent tuna fishing on 18 to 30 lb. fish, along with 17 wahoo, and 8 grouper and some yellowtail. Things were really going on today. As I am writing this report, the weather is absolutely perfect, but is going to change with the tropical storm headed this way. We are forced to run up the beach and try for yellowtail for the next few days. We will report again tomorrow, wish us luck, Jeff and crew

09-28-2005
- Hello and good evening everyone. Tonight’s report is short for the most part. We spent 3/4 of today at Alijos and things just never got in gear for us. The signs of tuna were not in our favor.. The only thing we have to show for today is 17 wahoo and a dorado. We are planning on spending tomorrow offshore. The weather is great, so that is a plus. We will report again when we can. Wish us luck, Jeff and Indy crew

- Hello everyone, here is the report for today. Today we fished under somewhat tropical skies, hot and muggy, misty at times, from the storm down below us. We managed to stay half way busy today, with wahoo and tuna, and some yellowtail. We ended up with 16 wahoo, and 17 good grade tuna 50 to 120 lbs. along with a good showing on 18 to 30 lb. tuna mixed in. we are going to try this again for tomorrow, in hopes of putting together a day. The weather is flat calm as well .see ya then, Jeff and crew

09-26-2005
- Good evening everyone, We had good squid fishing last night. As a result we able to depart from that area early and arrive at the rocks after 2 p.m. We set the anchor and saw some wahoo and tuna. We had a few heartbreaks in the tuna dept. but caught a few in the 60 to 100 lb. class, as well as a dozen wahoo. We will try this again tomorrow in hopes of putting together another great day. The weather is good. Wish us luck, Jeff and Indy crew

09-25-2005
- Good afternoon everyone, we have finally solved our Sat phone problems, and are here to report again on a regular basis straight from the Independence. We departed on a 10-day trip yesterday, sponsored by arts fishing tackle. We stopped and loaded a bountiful load of sardines, and headed to points south. Shortly after the usual safety talk, Robbie from Arts Fishing Tackle, started the great give-a-ways with raffles, rods, reels, line, and jigs. everyone came out a winner on that one. We are currently busy today with tackle seminars, and rigging everyone with the latest techniques to tackle the big ones. We are headed down right now with a couple of spots in mind to start the trip. The weather is good and we are hoping to start the season off with a bang. We will report again tomorrow. Jeff and Indy crew

09-24-2005
- Hello everyone, Today we returned from our last short trip of the year. as you know our sat. phone and e-mail has been down, we are sorry about the daily reports not being posted. We did however get our new parts for the phone and were able to fix the problem on the turn around. today we departed on the first 10 day trip of the year. The boat left at 1pm is headed down to an area where fishing has been very good. The last 4 trips went well, I ran the last 2 five day trips and Jeff ran the two four day trips before those. The 4 day trips both had good yellowtail fishing at the islands along with some yellowfin tuna and dorado. When I left on our Angler's Choice 5 day trip the reports for tuna fishing sounded poor at best so we made the discison to fish the ridge for the first day and work our way fishing back up the line. I would call it a big gamble as our fishing time would be very limited due to the 470 miles each way on the trip. But with rabbits foot in hand we took the gamble and it paid off with a jackpot in the form of wide open yellowfin tuna and yellowtail fishing along with a wahoo and grouper. The next five dayer we ran left us with the same choice to make and we did so and again were rewarded with full on tuna and yellow fishing. All in all we were happy with the choice we made and are gald to know that we can make the run on a five day trip if we are left with limited options to work from. Our 2006 schedule is out and we are booking now for next season. We will report as soon as we can on our 10 day now in progress. See ya soon, Mark Pisano and the crew.

- Greetings everyone, here is the latest from the independence. Today we opted to try our hand at yellowtail fishing, and we were quite successful. I must say, things down in the yellowtail zone look extremely good. Everyone got a real taste of wide-open fishing. We have chosen to try for trophy yellowfin tuna for tomorrow’s game plan. As for the weapon of choice today, everything was working; jigs and bait etc. Jeff and crew

09-07-2005
- Good evening everyone, yesterday, we departed on a 4-day trip sponsored by Purfield's Tackle. We loaded the boat with choice sardines, and proceeded to points south. After the tackle seminar, there were some great giveaways for everyone aboard. As for today, we fished offshore in hopes of locating some tuna and we had some moderate luck on dorado, and 1 shortbill spearfish. The weather was somewhat choppy for us, and we plan on fishing at one of the local islands for yellowtail tomorrow. Wish us luck. Jeff and the Indy Boys.

09-06-2005
- Today we returned from our Norris tapp/ Don brockmen charter and we had a ball. This was one of those trips that had all elements of a late summer 5 day. The jackpot winners were as follows: Scott Larson 1st with a 91.7 lb. yellowfin tuna, John Graves 2nd place with a 82.0 yellowifn tuna and Steve Aranov 3rd place with a 70.0 yellowfin tuna. We also had a very nice yellowtail that went 54.5 lbs. for Sharif Mohamed who runs the bongos charter boats out of Davey's locker in Newport beach. We also had a few nicer yellowfin that did not count in the jp that were caught on the kite. We would again like to thank norris and donny for the help getting the trip together and all the great anglers for making my job a breeze catching fish. Great job guys, Mark,Paul,Ron,Kyle,Sean,Steven,Walter and Garrett.

09-05-2005
- Happy labor day everyone, I hope everybody is having as much fun today as we had. This is our last day of the Brockmen/Tapp 5 day adventure and the tuna bit very good for us on a couple of stops. We had full speed action on 12 to 25 lb. yellowfin tuna eating everything we threw at them. We also caught a few dorado to add some color to the holds. All in all we had a great trip and this group is planing to do it again next year. We should be in at 06:30 hours. Have a great day, Mark, Paul, Kyle, Sean, Ronnie, Steven, Walter and Garrett.

09-04-2005
- Today we fished Guadalupe island and had a very nice day in good weather catching yellowfin tuna up to 90 lbs. and yellowtail to 35 lbs. The sharks were the same as usual eating what they wanted and letting us land some. Tomorrow we will look offshore again for some of the school yellowfin that have been around so wish us luck. Mark, Paul and the crew.

- Hello everyone, Today we fished the islands and had very good yellowtail fishing with most fish going 14 to 22 lbs. we also had some bigger fish in the 25 to high 40's. The yoyo jig was the hot ticket in the morning; the flylined sardine was best in the afternoon. The weather has been very nice with light winds and very little sea. We left our yellowtail area for Lupe at about 4pm and on the way found a kelp for some 15 to 22 lb. tuna and 3 dorado. Good night and we will check back tomorrow, Mark Paul and the Indy boys.

09-02-2005
- Good evening everyone, We left yesterday on our 10th Annual Don Brockman/Tapp 5-day fishing charter. We cleared the point at about 1:45 after loading a great bunch of sardines and headed for the offshore grounds to start the trip. Today we had a tough day on the catching but the fishing was very good as we enjoyed nice weather and we did see lots of fish that just did not want to bite. We had about 60-mixed yellowfin; dorado and yellowtail also released alot of small fish. Tomorrow we are going to try our hand at some yellowtail fishing at the islands. Check back and see how we fair. Good night and God bless, Mark, Paul and the rest of the crew.

09-01-2005

- Hello everyone, here is the report for today. We tried for yellowtail today at one of the local islands. I must say that things looked very good down there. We had an epic bite on yellows this morning that would rival anything I have seen this year. We were busy with 10 to 20 going all the time. These fish were 15 to 20 lbs.; everyone enjoyed the morning activities to the fullest. Later in the day we ran offshore to try for the dorado and tuna on kelps. We ended up with 20 dorado for our efforts. We are going to fish offshore again tomorrow. The weather is decent. Wish us luck. Jeff and crew

08-29-2005
- Good evening everyone, The first day of our Sav-On Tackle trip, we fished offshore in hopes of some action on yellowfin tuna and dorado. There was not much happening for most of the day until finally late afternoon we connected with the right kelp. The action was hot and heavy and we ended up having a great day. - Well, we got the computer back on line. The last couple of days were spent scratching at the offshore species, yellowtail, dorado, and yellowfin tuna. Today was the icing on the cake. The weather has been outstanding for the entire trip. The charter group, King Harbor Yacht Club Fishing Fleet really had a great time again this year. We will be back out on another 4-day trip tomorrow. The Independence will arrive at Point Loma Landing at 9am. See ya then, Jeff and the Indy boys

- Good evening again, Today we fought fish but the fish and sharks made out better than we did. We did however pick away at nice yellowfin tuna in the 60 to 90 lb. range. We landed only about 20% of the fish due to both very large and hungry white sharks and tackle failure. The show the tuna put on was nothing short of spectacular not to mention the sharks picking off the bigger fish at will five feet from the boat. I would like mention Cricket caught her first tuna; it was in the 80lb. class. We also had some yellowtail in the 15 to 30 lb. ranges. The weather was perfect just a bit on the hot side. With everyone at least getting 1 to 5 shots each at these beautiful fish we have made the move to fish albacore the last 2 days. wish us luck. Mark and the crew

Please stop by the shop on the way and check out Luke's new location on Rosecrans their number is 619-223-2324. I would like to let everyone know about our #1 sponser in the tackle field. Avet Reels onboard the Independence. We have been using their reels for our loaner Gear on the boat now for just over one year and have nothing but good to report. We have really put these reels to the test and they have held up under all conditions from kite gear to 30lb. albacore gear. We have coupled them to seeker rods and the result has been nothing short of top notch performance. Their newest reel is the Lx6/3 and the jx6/3 it's about the same size as a penn 500 and 501. This reel is a 2 speed wonder, we have been landing those big lupe yellowtail with ease using the low gear once the fish has stoped it's initial run. The low gear allows the angler to really work the fish when the fish is straight up and down. Many anglers who have tried this reel have went out and bought one. The quality and price simply cannot be beat. Ask to test drive one on your next Independence trip. Good fishing, the Indy Staff

- Hi everyone, Today we fished yellowtail and had a good day on nice size fish. The morning started out slow but picked up from there. We had a stop for about 50 18-30-lb. fish. Later in the day we would have a good stop on 30 to 50 lb. fish and we landed 42 out of that bite. The rest of the day was just a few fish here and there and one 25 lb. yellowfin tuna. The weather today is excellent with flat seas and sunny skies. Check back later for the last days wrap up. Mark and the crew.

- Hello again from the Independence. Our first day on the offshore albacore grounds was very good to us and the rest of the fleet. We started the day with a 72 fish stop and it just got better from there. We ended the day with limits and are now headed to fish yellowtail for a day. The weather is also on our side with 10 to 14 knots of wind and very little sea to go with it. Check back tomorrow and we will let you know how our quest for yellows goes. Wish you were here, Mark and the Indy boys.

- Hello everyone, we cut the fishing day short to start the long trek up to the albacore grounds. Things at Alijos looked almost promising this morning, and then things went completely dead. We had some action on small yellowfin, as well as 4 tuna 40 to 50 lbs. we also got 1 wahoo. The weather will not let up for us, as we have had endless days of bad weather. We plan on spending our last day trying for albacore. See ya then, Jeff and Indy crew

- Good afternoon to those of you tuning in. We Spent the morning fishing for yellowtail, cutting off anything that was not at least 20 lbs. We had excellent activity on the better grade fish. We then Pulled the anchor around 0830, and ran outside looking for some yellowfin tuna. Had some action on smaller fish, 10 to 15 lbs. We left them biting to head out to Alijos Rocks to try for the better grade tuna for the remainder of the trip. The weather is windy at the moment, but not more than 20 kts. See ya later, Jeff and Indy crew

06-24-2005
- We covered a lot of water in the last 36 hours. By process of elimination we found what we were looking for this afternoon. We had some of the best yellowtail fishing I have ever seen. Things were really in high gear for most of the afternoon. Everything was working as far as bait, jigs etc. The grade is a beautiful 20 to 40 lbs. everyone is having great time. We also had a couple of seabass to boot. We will give this spot a shot for the early morning bite and then look offshore for some tuna. The weather is epic...sunny and perfect. Jeff and The Indy Boys

06-23-2005
- We spent the day around Cedros Island and we might have 55 yellows for our efforts. We didn’t perfect conditions, but at least the weather is in our favor. We had a lengthy tackle seminar this morning, to go over the finer points and latest techniques for rigging our gear for the trip. - Today is a classic example of why I really enjoy long-range fishing. We ended the trip with a huge, spectacular bang. We fished offshore, and things out here look absolutely perfect. The day started with wide-open albacore action, and later we had a run in with 80 to 100 lb. Blue Fin tuna, which was a real heart breaker, we lost all 5 fish we hooked. But later on we connected with 45 Bluefin, 45 Yellowfin, as well as albacore fishing as good as it ever gets. The weather is flat calm as well. We will be returning tomorrow at 7 a.m., and coming back out for 5 more days. I can hardly wait. See ya later Jeff and Indy Crew

- Here is a quick report for what we did today. Things were a little bit different today as far as conditions were. We started the day with good current and fish sign, and then like flipping a switch, everything went dead. We opted to take what we caught and leave the island around lunch time to make the long trek up to an area that shows sign of albacore. We plan on looking hard tomorrow for the elusive albacore. The weather is great, and this is a real factor in locating fish. We hope for the best. See ya later, Jeff and Indy crew

06-13-2005
- Our report for today. We saw pretty good sign of yellowtail today at Benitos Island, but we had a problem all day with sea lions. There is just no way to win that battle. We did manage to pull 86 fish from their jaws, and they got their fair share. The yellows are good grade, and we will most likely try our hand at this tomorrow. The weather is good as well. Jeff and Indy crew

06-12-2005
- We opted to try our hand at the offshore game today. The weather has improved quite a bit, but still we could not locate any albacore in great numbers. We caught 1 fish on the troll, and stopped on a couple of meter marks that did not bite for us. We are headed for Benitos Island for a couple of days of yellowtail fishing. We will report again tomorrow. See ya later, Jeff and Indy crew

- Hello Everyone, This report will cover the final 3 days of our trip as the e-mail link would not send from the boat. Overall this was a tough trip mainly due to the weather we had from start to finish with 20 to 30 knot winds and a mixed up ocean. We did have a fair day on yellowtail with over 100 fish for a full day spent targeting yellows. Thurday on the other hand would be very slow with only a handful of yellows for the day. Friday was poor as well. We would like to thank Sal and Dan again for putting together a great group of guys for this fifth annual charter. jackpot was as follows: 1st place went to Alan Mckensie with a 40.1 lb. Yellowtail, 2nd place went to Don Farrell with a 36.4 lb. Yellowtail and third place went to Jim Audette with a 35.7 lb. Yellowtail. Good job guys on some very nice yellows. We have a few openings on our June 21st 8 day ultra limited to 25 passengers. See ya soon, The Indy Crew

06-08-2005
- Hello everyone, we are currently on our 5 day Sal Proetto Charter, we left San Diego Monday with a good load of bait and headed south in hopes of getting on some Albacore which did not happen for us. We got to Benitos Island late in the day and had some nice yellowtail for the short time we had to fish. Weather is a little on the choppy side but still not bad. We are going to try this one more day and see how it treats us. Talk to you later Mark and the Indy crew

06-04-2005
- We got a full tank of mackerel last night and decided to try Benitos Island again. Conditions here were very good today, The big yellows were starting to bite again. 25 to 40 lb. If the pesty sea lions would leave us alone we may have done some damage. As it turned out we ended up with 86 of these beauties. We’re headed up the line right now in hopes of some albacore action tomorrow. We still have great weather. Talk to you all later. Jeff and The Indy crew

06-03-2005
- We managed to have some action on yellowtail. But we had to work our tails off for 50. Things are on the tough side as far as catching something in the ocean as the Sea Lions were hard on us. Tomorrow our plan is to try again for more yellowtail. The weather is still good. Wish us luck. Jeff and the Indy crew. A couple spots left on our trip leaving on Monday June 6, give the office a call.

We fished Benitos Island for some fair action on trophy yellowtail. We did manage 50 or so 25 to 40 lb. fish for our efforts. - Here is the report for May 21. We started the day offshore looking on the way down to San Benitos Island. We saw 3 small spots of albacore jumping, and didn’t get a bite. Shortly there after we came upon a bird school and quite a few fish puddling around, which we thought to be albacore, but it turned out to be Yellowfin tuna, as we landed 3 out of 5 hook-ups. They were 20 lb. fish. We did make it to San Benitos Island for an afternoon of good yellowtail fishing. Most fish were 20 to 30 lbs. and a few bigger. We plan to try this again tomorrow. The weather is great. We will report again tomorrow. Jeff and Indy crew

- Hello and happy New Year to everyone. We spent the first day of 05 looking for yellowtail, and they were hard to find for the most part. By process of elimination we got on a spot that rewarded us with some great action on better grade yellows, call them 17 to 25 lb. fish. The hot ticket was yo-yo jigs and mackerel. The weather is perfect and we should have some good drifting weather for red rock cod in the morning. After that we will make our way back to San Diego for a Monday a.m. arrival. This is our last trip until April, and so we are glad to have scratched a decent trip. Until tomorrow, take care. Jeff and crew.
